Clyde Cowley, Managing Director
Twelve years as a rigger at Downer Group. Then COVID hit and took everything. Most people would have found another job. Clyde rebuilt — not into the same role, but into something bigger.
Clyde Services started as one man and a vision: bring specialist lifting capability to the jobs that nobody else wants to take on. The ones that are classically "too hard to do." That was always the bread and butter, and it still is.
The company was incorporated in 2012, based out of Onehunga, Auckland. After the COVID collapse, Clyde came back harder — investing in the equipment that would let him compete at a level most operators can't touch. The centrepiece: a Magni RTH 6.46, the largest rotational telehandler in Oceania. Purchased through APS Equipment and Darren Boon, this machine is the foundation everything else is built on.
Today, Clyde Services works alongside some of New Zealand's most respected rigging and crane companies — Amalgamated Rigging, Universal CranesNZ, JD Rigging, Auckland Cranes — on major commercial construction, telecommunications infrastructure, and civil engineering projects across the country.
